I HAVE SEVERAL "FUN" CLASSES FOR THOSE DOGS THAT HAVE AN
UNDERSTANDING OF BASIC COMMANDS (THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT!). These
are a bit different from the "normal" training classes and introduce
constructive ways of enjoying your dog's company with absolutely no
pressure. Very friendly, small groups!
My
name is Sharon and I am the main instructor for most of the courses. I have around 14 years experience with dogs and am a member of the
A.P.D.T. (Association of Pet Dog Trainers). I trained with the ADTB
(Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour), and have taught classes locally since
2006. I have mainly owned "rescue" dogs, and both of my current
dogs love doing agility when we get the chance. I believe
that basic training is essential for a family pet and will help to build a
bond between you and your dog which is based on mutual respect.
I would hope to provide you with a better understanding of your dog, how
it learns, and what motivates it to respond well to your requests.
The club uses only positive, reward-based training methods and we
are able to offer training in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere using "fun"
methods of learning. All dogs are different, as are their owners,
and we try, as far as possible, to cater for individual needs - class sizes
are kept small for this reason. There are many training classes in
the area and it is a good idea to investigate them all before making a
decision. It is worthwhile finding out about the instructor, their
experience and their qualifications for teaching you. You are being a
responsible dog owner in considering a training course and we hope that you
will find this club suitable for your needs.
There are several courses available from puppy
socialisation through to more advanced dog training lessons; young handlers classes and
one-to-one sessions. All of the training is aimed primarily at family pets, but I am
able to point you in the right direction if you are considering
obedience competitions, or aiming for a particular discipline such as gun
dog training, agility, fly ball, and so on. A brief guide to the courses
are listed below, and further details and enrolment forms can be either emailed
or posted to you. Please feel to contact us if you have any questions
or require further information. All classes run for appromimately
an hour with time set aside for questions and to discuss any problems that you
may be experiencing.
